For anyone not quite ready to settle back into a homey winter routine just yet, we’ve got the perfect two-and-a-half-hour adrenaline-packed tour around the world!
No teleportation is involved… but this local film festival will allow you to live vicariously through the nail-biting escapades of the world’s most daring filmmakers as they conquer impossible feats on global peaks.
For the first time in years, the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival (VIMFF) is coming to the Bragg Creek Community Centre this Saturday, September 16, to showcase intense adventures in mountain ranges worldwide.
No matter your interests, the diverse film lineup is sure to have something to inspire.
“Enjoy the ride, whether it be dogsledding and backcountry skiing or alpine climbing, trail running and mountain biking; the night will be full of inspiration, suspense and humour showcased in the most beautiful mountain backdrops in the world.”
“It’s been really mind-blowing to see mountain enthusiasts push the limits of their imagination to come up with new adventures, and this year will be no exception,” Shaun Peter of Bragg Creek and Kananaskis Outdoor Recreation told the Cochrane Eagle.
Ranging from two to 23 minutes long, each short film will “scare, thrill and warm your heart” – it’s genuinely the perfect granola date night. Be sure to wear your hiking boots because you’ll feel like hitting the trails after the show!
The whole family can also enjoy the festival, so long as you prep your kids for some “exclamatory” language in moments where mountaineers risk a little (or a lot) more than a broken nail.
Doors open at 6 PM – Show starts at 7. You can find a complete list of the film lineup and tickets here.
In 2019, the last time the Festival occurred, $3,855.28 was raised for trail maintenance and development in West Bragg and Moose Mountain area; organizers hope to match or exceed that this year.
For just 21 bucks, you couldn’t get a better action-packed trip around the world.
