Local Artist Set To Perform With Morgan Wallen

Airdrie's-own Brandon Lorenzo is set to perform at the Big Valley Jamboree

Brandon Lorenzo from Airdrie will be performing at a big music event called Big Valley Jamboree  with famous artists like Morgan Wallen, Dallas Smith, and Dierks Bentley. He will play on the songwriter’s stage on Sunday, August 6.

“It’s my first time playing at BVJ. I’ve gone there before to watch, but this time I’ll be performing. I’m really excited about it,” Lorenzo told Cochrane Now

The BVJ is an annual country music festival held in Camrose. The four-day event sees a daily average of 25,000 concertgoers. In the past, famous country artists, including Tim McGraw, Kevin Costner, and Josh Turner, have performed at BVJ.

Last summer, Lorenzo got to perform at Alberta Country Thunder, another famous music festival. He loves playing at these big events because many people come from different places and have a good time.

One special event for Lorenzo was the Kalix Legacy Foundation Charity Classic. The Kalix Legacy Foundation was established in memory of Kalix Langenau, who passed away in 2020.

Lorenzo felt honoured to play at this event because it is based in Airdrie and commemorates the goodwill of Langenau, who dreamt of helping local low-income families with program and equipment costs for sports in the area.

“It was a wonderful way to remember and honour a great young man who did a lot for the hockey community and wanted to help other kids in the community, too,” commented Lorenzo.

Lorenzo has many shows lined up for the rest of the summer, including some in Saskatchewan. But he will open for Brett Kissel this weekend at the Cowboy Town Concert.

“We’ve been getting ready for Brett Kissel’s show this weekend on June 24 in Strathmore. It’s going to be so much fun, and I can’t wait,” expressed Lorenzo.

Lorenzo also mentioned that he has a few rodeo shows already booked and will be announcing more soon. One of these shows is the Pincher Creek Rodeo on August 19.

But Lorenzo is more than just an exceptional musician. When he’s not performing on stage, Lorenzo is an elementary school teacher in Airdrie.

“(The school year) went by really fast, and it was a busy one. I’m really looking forward to the summer and being able to focus on music and play as much as I can,” said Lorenzo.

Last year during the Calgary Stampede, Lorenzo played around 20 shows in just two weeks. Lorenzo’s talent is in high demand.
