Help Make The Sun Dawg Festival a Reality At Bellecrest Days!

Mark June 17 on your calendar and check out soem great live music from local musicians

The Bellecrest Days on June 17 is about to get a whole lot sunnier with the Sun Dawgin’ event. Bellecrest Days is a family-focused weekend event jointly hosted by Bellevue and Hillcrest.

This year, Bellecrest Days will feature a parade, local vendors, food trucks, bounce castles, and the Sun Dawgin’ event, which includes performances from a group of musicians with an ambitious dream.

The talented bunch includes Gord Gosse, Spencer Krkosky, Walter Gail, Pat Rypien, Brandy Fehr, and Shane Painter.

They’re on a mission to raise funds for the Sun Dawg Festival, an outdoor music festival for all genres of music. The group has been planning this festival for the last two years.

Unfortunately, they hit a little snag with their budget and were unable to create a budget large enough for a standalone festival. Big dreams often come with an even bigger price tag.

“We were looking at a budget that we were never going to be able to accomplish, but I think having scaled it back we’ve accomplished a lot this year,” said Rypien.

The group will use Bellecrest Days to spread the word and gather funds for the 2024 festival. They even have their own stage, courtesy of the Bellecrest society.

“We’ve met with the Bellecrest society, and they gave us their stage. They’ve been kind enough to include us in their program, so this is our second chance at promoting local bands and giving everybody a chance to see what they’re all about,” continued Rypien.

Their mission is all about promoting live music and local artists from the Crowsnest Pass. If successful, some of the proceeds from the Sun Dawg Festival will go back into projects in the Pass.

But here’s the deal. They need your help! They’re looking for volunteers to join their crew, so if you’re up for some fun and want to be part of the music magic, give them a shout.

“We’re taking baby steps here to get to the big prize so we’re looking for volunteers. If there are people out there that would like to come and help us, please give us a call,” said Krkosky.

Tickets for the Sun Dawgin’ event are just $10 and will be available at the door, but kids 12 and under get in for free. Rypien can be contacted at this email address: sr.ryps@shaw.ca.
