Get Hiking, Then Get Hoppin’ in Alberta’s Rockies!

Lace-up those hiking boots and swap trail mix for a frosty mix of hops and barley – it’s beer o'clock in the Rockies!

Hey there, adventure-seekers! Ever heard of the dynamic duo of trails and ales? If not, you’re in for a treat.

Alberta’s very own Kendall Hunter not only knows her way around the Canadian Rockies but she’s also got a taste for some cool, crisp brews. Combine these two loves, and voilà – Beer Hiking Canadian Rockies is born!

Picture this: you’re in Alberta’s Rockies, you’ve just conquered a challenging (or not-so-challenging) trail, and you’re thinking, “Gee, I’d love to sip on something tasty.”

Well, why settle for a plain old water bottle when you could be raising a glass of local craft beer? Forget that fancy iced latte nonsense. The answer, dear reader, is BEER. And not just any beer – an awesome craft beer.

Hunter’s zesty guide zooms in on 30 kick-boot hikes sprinkled across the Alberta and BC Rockies, all of which are just a hop, skip, and a jump (or, let’s say, a 30-minute drive) from a local craft brewery.

For instance, you can take on the heavenly Valley of the Five Lakes in Jasper National Park, soak in the beauty of those stunning blue waters, and then mosey down to Jasper Brewing Co. to reward yourself with a Trail Session IPA. It’s like a high-five for your taste buds!

Not into IPAs? No worries! Hunter’s journey also introduces readers to lively ambers, robust stouts and tangy sours from Three Ranges Brewing Co. and Folding Mountain Brewing.

“I don’t think I’ve had a bad beer after a hike,” Hunter declared to the Calgary Herald. And, hey, after working up a sweat, who could blame her?

Kendall’s fondness for mountain lakes, breathtaking views, and – of course – that post-hike brewsky has given us the perfect guide to add some zing to our Canadian Rockies escapades.

The trails are calling, and so is the beer! So, lace up those hiking boots, grab your best pals, and let the trail-to-tap adventures begin. Cheers to that, eh? 🍻🏞️
