Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge hosted skilled filmmakers and top chefs from around the world

Do you have a passion for food and wine? What about quality films? If you answered yes to both, then Devour! The Rockies was the event for you!

As part of The Canadian Rockies Food Film Festival held at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, Devour! The Rockies features films from skilled filmmakers and food prepared by some of the best chefs from around the world. The event ran from March 31, 2023, to April 2, 2023.

Devour! The Rockies is one of many offshoots of the Nova Scotia-based Devour! The Food Film Festival was founded in 2009 by chef Michael Howell and Lia Rinaldo.

The main event is held annually in October in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. However, many Devour! Festivals around the world are held throughout the year.

With this in mind, Devour! The Rockies is the largest of the offshoots. The event involved a Cabin Crawl where attendees enjoyed some of Jasper Park Lodge’s Signature Cabins.

These aren’t your typical cabins, though. Jasper Park Lodge’s cabins have sweet perks like fully stocked kitchens, pool tables, barbeque areas, and more.

However, no two cabins are the same. For example, the Milligan Cabin is the largest and overlooks the lodge’s golf course. Whereas the Athabasca Cabin is nestled above the Athabasca River.

During the Cabin Crawl, attendees moved between cabins, where a different chef cooked up exclusive menus.

The event ended with the annual Chilli Smackdown. Guests judged chilli dishes from various chefs and voted on their favourites.

Like every Devour! Food Film Festival, the Jasper event ended with the Devour! Gala Dinner. The multi-course meal was paired with a short, food-related film.

Last year’s gala dessert was a snowball-inspired meringue with a walnut crumb base and birch cream cheese mousse filling.

The delicious dessert was paired with the film Gustav, The Snow Chef. As the name suggests, Gustav is a chef that cooks with snow. Fitting, right?

The Festival isn’t cheap. Rates for Devour! The Rockies start from $789 per person plus taxes for two nights. So start saving for next year.

If you have the money to spend, Devour! The Rockies sounds like a good time. If you can’t afford it, hiking around Jasper National Park is also a world-class experience.
